SECOND GRADE
Second grade’s distance learning has begun with review of math and literacy skills as well as artistic work such as drawing, beeswax, flute practice and knitting.
The children are working in their main lesson book where they have written excerpts from a play called Brother Francis and The Wolf of Gubbio and illustrated pictures.
In their journals they have been “talking on paper” to share ideas and responses to writing prompts. Second graders have been practicing their arithmetic in the four foundational operations.
Daily practice of reading sight words and “just right” books is underway and the story of The King of Ireland’s Son by Padraic Colum is being audibly shared with the children.
Parents and I have been in communication via email and a class WhatsApp group. I hold daily office hours on regularly scheduled school days.
Kindly,
Ms. Hawk
